First Home Meet

The girls walked away from the first home meet of the year with two victories. We beat Newtown 79 - 71 and Bethel 96.5 - 54.5. Congratulations on a good start.

The team was lead by

• Amanda Walters placing first in100 m hurdles and second in the 300 m hurdles
• Abby Ruane placing first in the 800 meters.
• Jeanne Theleen placing first in the 3200 meters.
• Kasey Dean placing first in the javelin.
• Kelsey Bean placing first in the high jump, second in the 200 meters, and third in the pole vault.
• Mary Haase placing second in the shot put and the javelin.
• Alyssa Fusco placing second in the 100 meters and third in the 200 meters.
• Sydney Polke finishing third in the long jump and the triple jump.
• Morgan Keith finishing third in the javelin.

It was a good start to the season and sets a positive tone for the rest of the season. Good luck next week at Bunnell.

First Day of Practice

We have our first day of practice on Monday, March 23. We are meeting in the large gym at 2:30. Be prepared to train. Make sure that you have turned in all of your paperwork for athletics (permission form, fee, physical). Senior Track and Field Meeting

There will be a meeting with the seniors after school on Thursday in room 429. We will discuss the upcoming season.

April 7 Result

Congratulations on a strong start to the season. We began with a sweep of New Fairfield, Brookfield, and Immaculate. There were many strong showings and some impressive performances. The team was lead by:

• Sydney Polke's first place finish in the long jump and triplejump, as well as a second place finish in the high jump.
• Mary Haase's first place finish in the shot put and second place finish in the javelin.
• Amanda Walter's first place finish in the 100m hurdles, second place finish in the 300m hurdles, and third place finish in the long jump.
• Emily Pattison's first place finish in the 300m hurdles and third place finish in the 100m hurdles.
• Christine Maksimow's first place finish in the 800m.
• The 4x100 relay of Emily Pattison, Ashley Stocking, Nicole Mendelson, and Alyssa Fusco finished first.
• Alyssa Fusco's second place finish in both the 100m and the 200m.
• Jessica Broderick's second place finish in the 3200m
• Amy Duncan's second place finish in the pole vault.
• Ashley Stocking's third place finish in the 100m.
• Elle McNeice's third place finish in the pole vault.
• Morgan Keith's third place finish in the javelin.
• Mel Urquhart's third place finish in the discus.

I am proud of your performances. We have a good starting point for the rest of the season. Congratulations on a good meet.

April 7 Meet

Our first meet is tomorrow at New Fairfield. For the past three weeks, we have been training and now we have a chance to see what we can do. For all of our returning athletes, this meet will be a chance to measure ourselves against where we were last year. For our new athletes, this will be a chance to see what track and field is all about. Good luck to everybody on a good meet.

Directions to New Fairfield High School (from PHS):

Take 84 West to exit 6. Turn right off the ramp. Bear left at the North Street Shopping Center. Go 4 1/2 miles to New Fairfield center. Make a left turn at the traffic light onto Route 39. At the top of the hill, St. Edwards Church is on the left. Bear left and take a fast right onto Gillotti Road. On your right is an elementary school - the high school is the third school up.
